One practice area.
New York real estate.

Martin Sigal founded the Law Office of Martin J. Sigal, PC after a career as in-house counsel and general counsel at some of New York's largest real estate companies.

Built from
the inside.

Before starting this firm, Martin spent his career as an attorney inside real estate companies. Not outside counsel parachuting in on individual matters, but the lawyer at the table for daily operations, fielding calls from property managers, reviewing the vendor contract before it goes out, figuring out what to do with an HPD notice that arrived at 5pm.

He has served as general counsel and senior counsel at some of New York's largest property management companies and prop-tech firms, across portfolios and organizations of every scale. The work was always the same: whatever legal problem the business had, it landed on his desk.

That background shapes how this firm operates. The goal is not to handle discrete matters in isolation but to understand the business, stay ahead of issues, and be the person a client can call when something comes up.

General Counsel
New York property management

Full GC responsibilities across large residential portfolios. Leasing, operations, litigation oversight, regulatory compliance, vendor relationships.

Senior Corporate Counsel
Prop-tech, multi-state operations

Commercial contracts, technology agreements, employment matters, and operational legal support across multiple states.

Real Estate Counsel
Large-scale institutional real estate

Real estate legal work at institutional scale across complex, multi-asset portfolios.

No hand-offs.
No surprises.

This is a solo practice. Every client works directly with Martin. There are no associates handling the actual work while a partner's name is on the door.

The firm takes on matters where Martin can add real value. When something falls outside that range, he says so and can refer to attorneys who handle it well. That is not a limitation. It is how good legal counsel is supposed to work.

Fees are discussed upfront. For retainer clients, the monthly rate and scope are fixed. For hourly matters, you will know the rate and get a realistic estimate before work begins. The goal is a relationship where you are never reluctant to call because you are worried about the bill.
